First Love in Space

Jim, an 11-year-old boy with a talent for science, moved into a new community with his astrophysicist father Glenn. On his first day at school, he unexpectedly forms a team with the sensitive and low-key girl Emma, ​​preparing to participate in the school's science experiment competition. The unimaginative Jim persuaded Emma, ​​who originally only wanted to study Hamtaro, with his "plan to build a floating balloon". The two used the barn in the forest as a secret base to try to build a floating balloon that could take them off the surface and enjoy freedom. Under the influence of his father, Jim is deeply fascinated by the space outside the earth. He has a space dream and resolutely brings Emma into the adventure. However, the process is full of thrills and accidents. Can their plan succeed? This film is composed of a variety of retro and colorful images: the bright and warm colors of the 1980s, traditional TV rocket launch images, square and noisy analog camera images, mixed with the boy's dream of a different world. The ingenious sound design, combined with the spacey electronic music, smoothly switches between the channels on both sides, and the wonderful blend of sound and picture leads the audience into a teenage adventure.
