Early Autumn

As summer passes and autumn comes, Matsubara Tatsupei (played by Hiroshi Yakusho), who runs a wine shop in Nagano, has mixed feelings and sends his daughter into the marriage hall. Since his wife passed away 20 years ago, Matsubara has devoted himself to raising his daughter, even giving up another relationship for this reason. The marriage of his daughter seemed to make this strong man experience emotional loss and desolation. After that, he temporarily put down his work and went to Kyoto to visit his old friend Shukichi Shigemune (played by Iwamatsu), and also met his high school friend Yamabe Kousuke (played by Diandian). Entrusted by Yamabe, Matsubara goes to the nightclub to investigate the other party's daughter - who is also Matsubara's daughter's friend - Reiko (played by Noriko Nakagoshi). Reiko has been secretly in love with Matsubara since childhood, and the secret emotions in this young man's heart seem to be recovering... This film is adapted from Inoue Haru's original work and is a commemorative work for CBC's 60th anniversary.
