A woman who has taken refuge and a man who has run away

The story takes place during the Tokugawa shogunate period in Japan in the mid-19th century. Tokeiji Temple in Kamakura received support from the shogunate and could provide assistance to women suffering from painful marriages and help them successfully sever ties with their husbands' families. On this day, A Gin (Hikari Mitsushima), the concubine of the unscrupulous businessman Horikiriya Saburoemon (Shinichi Tsutsumi), and Aru (Erika Toda), a blacksmith who was cruelly exploited by her bastard husband (Shinji Takeda), came to Tokei Temple together, and met Shinjiro (Oizumi Hiroshi), the nephew of Genbei Genbei (Shirin Mikiki), the owner of the royal residence at the foot of the temple. Shinjiro is a trainee doctor. He uses his medical skills to try to treat Aru's burns, and at the same time hopes to record the experiences of women and write a script for future generations. Women from different backgrounds came one after another, and they stood at a fork in life together... This film is adapted from Inoue Ha's novel "Tokyoji Flowers".
