Nights of Kabylia

The prostitute Cabiria (Giulietta Masina) has always dreamed of living a sweet and stable life with her lover. However, the innocent and kind-hearted girl was defrauded of all her money by her boyfriend at the beginning, was pushed into the river, and almost died. Even though she suffered such humiliation, she was still full of hope for love. Once, she met an actor on the street who had just had a fight with his girlfriend, and was invited home to spend the night. Just when she was flattered and filled with joy, the actor's girlfriend came to ask for peace, which made Cabiria heartbroken again. Soon, she encountered the crazy pursuit of a handsome man in the theater. At first, she was a little unsure, but eventually she accepted the man's proposal and sold all her belongings to prepare for a beautiful new life with her fiancé. However, on the way, her fiancé revealed his true nature as a liar, robbed her of her money, and almost killed her. Kabylia, who had nothing left, cried wildly and was heartbroken. She was wandering alone on the road, and a group of lively men and women passed by. They walked happily and sang. The joyful atmosphere infected the discouraged Kabylia, and her signature smile appeared on her face again. The film won the 30th Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and the 10th Cannes Film Festival for Best Actress.
