Carmen

Dance star and choreographer Antonio (played by Antonio Gades) is preparing to film the famous play "Carmen" by French composer Bizet. Antonio, who is obsessed with the tragedy "Carmen", has been looking for a suitable candidate for the heroine Carmen. Until a female dancer named Carmen (Laura del Sol) appears, Antonio immediately decides that she will be the heroine. Antonio was deeply attracted by the unique temperament of the young and sexy Carmen, and worked hard to train her to become a truly outstanding "Carmen". During the rehearsal, he gradually developed an overwhelming love for Carmen. However, the free-spirited Carmen did not want to be restrained and fell in love with others. The entanglement of love and death gradually blurs the boundary between drama and reality, and the two of them fall into it unknowingly and cannot extricate themselves. The love opera film "Carmen" directed by the famous Spanish director Carlos Saura is called the trilogy of flamenco dance dramas together with "Blood Wedding" and "Love" directed by him. The film was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 56th Academy Awards in 1984, and won many awards including the Jury Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Artistic Contribution at the 36th Cannes Film Festival in 1983.
