Blood Marriage

The film is adapted from a six-act play by the great Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. During the civil war, he was brutally murdered by the Franco government for supporting the republican government. His works were banned for a long time when the rebels were in power. The story in the film unfolds in the form of a flamenco dance documentary, telling the audience such a bloody tragedy through the actors' preparation and rehearsals: On the wedding night, the groom's mother was worried. She accidentally learned that the bride was the daughter of the enemy who killed her husband, and an ominous premonition arose in her heart. The bride's cousin Leonardo (played by Antonio Gades) loves his cousin deeply. He takes advantage of the chaos to elope with his lover. After learning of the news, the groom chases him with a knife, and the two men engage in a bloody duel... One of the Spanish director Carlos Saura's trilogy of flamenco films, the other two being "Carmen" and "The Magician of Love".
