The Guardian of the Desk

In the Anatolian mountains where winter snow falls, an isolated boys' boarding school is located. One night, the boys played too much in the shower room and were severely punished by the instructor, forcing them to take a cold shower at temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. The next day, Yusuf discovered that his roommate began to vomit severely and fell into a coma. He hurriedly informed the teacher, but all he saw was that the adults kept kicking the ball with each other. As time passed, the snow on the way down the mountain became deeper and deeper. Looking at his dying friend, his sanity was on the verge of collapse. The emerging Kurdish director adapted his childhood experience and set the scene in a boarding school that is like a microcosm of real society. Through the eyes of an innocent and frightened boy, he uses a shaky and unsettling lens to accuse the cruel system of bureaucratic murder, and more pointedly alludes to the generational reproduction process of outdated educational thinking. “The control exerted on our young bodies will shape our minds for the rest of our lives.
