The Way Back

Shortly after the Soviet-German partition of Poland in 1939, the Polish youth Wiszek Jonus (Jim Sturgess) ) was sent to a labor camp in Siberia for his so-called "anti-Party and anti-Stalin" espionage behavior. It was already 1940. In the cold Siberia, Jonus met the actor Andrei, who was also a political prisoner. The latter had an escape plan that had been brewing for a long time. On a snowy night, Jonus and seven others successfully escaped from the labor camp. The only thing they knew was to head south to Lake Baikal while avoiding the ubiquitous whistleblowers.
