The Last Wave

Burton is a lawyer who was entrusted to serve as a legal aid lawyer for an Aboriginal murder case. He vaguely felt that this death case was strange, but, like the constant rain, he could not see the state of things clearly. In the director's images, the indigenous people represent primitive mysticism, and the tribes are to urban modernization just like the introduction of the indigenous people in the book: distant and unknown. Tribal culture was primitive and inaccessible to colonial Europeans. They had their own ways of dealing with problems and punishment rules. This was an independent system with echoes of ancient times. However, the white people's system represents European civilization, and this sense of superiority makes them always regard the indigenous people as ignorant and stupid. White people's desire to civilize them has led to more confrontation. Their inability to communicate is due to differences in historical and cultural backgrounds. While Burton was handling the case, an Aboriginal Chris who appeared in his dream appeared in reality. A premonition? Still mysterious, Bolton's judgment was lost. In order to understand the indigenous people, he asked Chris to go to his house for dinner. Chris brought the wizard Charlie, who told Burton that his prospects were not good. The doubtful Burton fell into a trance, but the nightmare lingered, and some objects related to the dream appeared in reality.
