Hammerfest, located on the coast of the Arctic Ocean, is the northernmost city in Norway. This small city experiences polar night every year. The sun is always hidden below the horizon and never rises. The city wanders between the long night and the eternal dawn. Niels, a natural gas engineer from Germany, brought his wife Maria and son here, hoping to save his family that was about to be broken up. But the new environment doesn't seem to be helping their relationship. Nils works day and night and has a lover outside. Maria works as a night nurse in a hospice, and the relationship between her teenage son Marcus and his new classmates is becoming increasingly tense. But a sudden car accident one night gradually melted three cold hearts. The originally precarious relationship between husband and wife began to change in the process of jointly shouldering the responsibility for the incident. In each other's company, they completed the entire psychological process of panic-escape-guilt-hesitation-repentance, and finally completed the redemption of their souls by telling the truth to the victim's parents.
