The Woman with the Puppy

Gurov, who is nearly forty years old, met Anna, a young woman with a bulldog, on the shores of the Black Sea in Yalta. After a week of contact, Gurov gained Anna's affection and began to fall in love. A few days later, Anna rushed back to city C after receiving news of her husband's illness. Gurov also returned to Moscow and lived a dull life with his wife, who was 10 years older than him. Gurov gradually realized that he could not leave Anna, so he went to City C to find her alone, and agreed to meet her every three months in a hotel in Moscow. The two began a bitter love.
