Brideshead

The civilian boy Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) entered Oxford University with a dream, and soon met the eye-catching Sebastian Flett (Ben Whishaw) and became friends with him. Sebastian is astonishingly handsome, comes from a wealthy family, and is full of sensitivity and sorrow. He takes Charles into his mansion, Brideshead Manor, and introduces him to his family. Charles soon falls in love with his sister Juliet (Hayley Atwell), but Juliet is forced by her mother to get engaged to the Catholic Rex (Jonathan Cake), so Charles' love affair is fruitless, and Sebastian's feelings for Charles can only end in ambiguity. Ten years later, Charles has become a well-known painter. He meets Juliet on the ferry and tries to renew his old relationship but fails again. He also learns that Sebastian has gone abroad. Returning to Brideshead Manor again, Charles is already an officer and the mansion has been completely destroyed in the war...
