The Dead and Others

Tonight, silence enveloped the forest surrounding the village. When people fall asleep, the forest wakes up. Ihjãc, a young man living in Krahô in northern Brazil, has been having nightmares since his father died. He walked in the dark, covered in sweat, taking every step carefully. Suddenly, a burst of singing came from afar, through the palm grove. It was his dead father calling him. In order for his father's soul to rest in peace and travel to the kingdom of the dead, he must organize a funeral ceremony. But Ihjãc failed in his duty and refused to become a shaman. He decided to flee to the city, away from his people and culture. But as an indigenous person living in Brazil, he had to face a difficult reality.
