In freezing Sapporo, "I" (played by Ohizumi Hiroshi), a private detective, and his partner Takada (played by Matsuda Ryuhei) spend their boring time in a quiet and dark bar. At the same time, President Toshio Kirishima (played by Toshiyuki Nishida), who was well-known in the local financial community, was murdered on his way home at night for rescuing a woman. Shortly thereafter, "I" received a mysterious phone call. The woman on the other end of the phone called herself Kondo Kyoko. She entrusted "me" to go to a law firm to inquire about the whereabouts of a man named Kato. The seemingly simple task dragged "I" and Takada into a dangerous quagmire. An even weirder truth soon surfaced. The real Kondo Kyoko died in a fire a year ago... This film is adapted from the second part of the novel "Surface Detective" series by Naoki Higashi, "Telephone", and won the 10th place among the top ten films of the 2011 Film Weekly.
