Kiichi Nakajima (played by Toshiro Mifune), an old but energetic factory owner, purchased a piece of land to build a basement to protect against nuclear radiation after hearing that the United States was conducting hydrogen bomb experiments. Later, he heard that the Soviet Union was also conducting hydrogen bomb experiments and that radioactive dust could be blown to Japan from the north, so he gave up the plan to build a basement and planned to move his family to Brazil. People around him thought he was worrying and making a fuss. His family strongly opposed his plans and petitioned the court to ban him from handling the family property on the grounds of insanity. In order to cut off his family's escape route, Kiichi Nakajima burned down his factory in a fire, but he did not expect that this move would lead to the unemployment of workers. Kiichi Nakajima eventually went crazy and entered a mental hospital.
