The Long Way to Find the Son

After his wife attempted suicide, Nikolai's two children, a temporary worker, were also taken away from him and placed in the care of adoptive parents. At first, this was a temporary arrangement, but after an assessment of Nikolai's housing conditions, the director of the social welfare office in the small Serbian village decided that Nikolai was too poor to provide a good living environment for his children. The taciturn Nikolai decided to file a complaint with Belgrade's Ministry of Social Affairs and decided to walk 300 kilometers to the capital to show the authorities that he was willing to go to great lengths for his children. Director Golubovich tells the audience this story of inequality by showing real and moving images. The protagonist Nikolay not only uses his peaceful and tenacious character to measure the country, but also explores the boundaries between right and wrong. Determined not to give in to despair, this tenacious father embarks on a heroic journey that redefines the word "hero."
