Ramanujan (played by Dev Patel) was born in a very poor family in India. From a very young age, he showed extraordinary talent in mathematics. However, because of his poor family, his family was unable to provide Ramanujan with a good educational environment. In 1904, Ramanujan relied on his own efforts to enter Kumbagonam University, but he did not graduate because he was seriously partial to subjects. In the days that followed, Ramanujan began to study mathematics on his own. In 1912, Ramanujan's paper "Some Properties of Bernuni Numbers" was published. This article caused some splash in the mathematics community and brought Ramanujan some fame. Later, with the help of his friends, Ramanujan wrote a letter of recommendation to the famous mathematician Hardy (Jeremy Irons). Hardy attached great importance to this promising young man and recommended him to enter Cambridge University for further study.
