The Boy Erased

Joel Edgerton will write and direct the new film "Boy Erased" (tentative translation), starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe are expected to join. The film is adapted from Gerald Conley's autobiography of the same name. The story tells the story of a pastor's son (played by Hedges) in a conservative small town in Arkansas who is rejected by his family because of his homosexuality. Kidman and Crowe play his parents. Filming will begin this fall. Story synopsis: In a feudal and conservative small town in Arkansas, the 19-year-old son of a Baptist pastor came out to his parents. Boys are forced to participate in church-supported gay correction programs to "cure" homosexuality, or else they will pay the price of losing relatives, friends and religious beliefs. He initially participated in brutal 12-step therapy, but eventually found the courage to run away and embrace his true self.
