The Secret Life of Words

Hannah (played by Sarah Polley), a lonely factory worker, always wears a hearing aid because of her poor hearing. She was unsociable and worked hard at work, and finally got her first vacation after several years. However, to everyone's surprise, she was at a loss for a while and actually gave up this rare opportunity and voluntarily went to an offshore oil drilling platform to take care of a man named Joseph (played by Tim Robbins) who was severely burned in an accident and was temporarily blind. An isolated, desolate and boring drilling platform, two lonely souls tortured by painful pasts, a delicate and intimate relationship intertwined between secrets and truth. Under Hannah's careful care, Joseph finally opened his heart. At the same time, Hannah also broke her silence and told him about her unknown miserable experience.
