The Boy and the Pelican

The story takes place on the picturesque Greek island, where Yannis (François-Xavier Demaison) is a 14-year-old boy living there. Yanis' mother left Yannis a long time ago, and now he and his father Damonsne (Emir Kusturica) live a life of dependence on each other. Damonsne is a very serious and old-fashioned man. He is usually unsmiling and lacks care for Yanis. As time goes by, the distance between father and son becomes wider and wider. By chance, Yannis discovered a dying baby pelican on the island. The kind-hearted Yannis secretly adopted the little pelican. Because he was afraid that his father would blame him, Yannis did not dare to tell his father about the pelican. The little pelican that gradually recovered and grew up made Yannis a famous figure on the island.
