命运的安排让怀揣刑警梦想的赵耀成为了一名交警，然而他对刑侦事业的向往与热爱却是一如既往。一次执行交警任务时，赵耀阴差阳错地介入了一起刑事案件。作为人民警察，他出于职业本能，决心协助刑侦部门抓获凶手。然而经验不足却让他常常好心办坏事，搞得刑警队长杜军无可奈何，对他是又恨又 爱。但随着侦破工作的不断推进，杜军却意外地发现赵耀有着成为一名优秀刑警所特有的警觉和热诚，即将退休的他喜欢上了这棵好苗子，他通过种种努力，终于将赵耀调进了刑警队。赵耀没有辜负老杜的期望，经过赵耀、老杜等公安民警夜以继日艰苦奋战，原本扑朔迷离的案情渐渐地变得明晰起来。最终，行凶者受到了应有的惩罚，正义得到了伸张。
