故事发生在山西某地。富裕起来的种植合作社主任萧丙河（戈治均 饰）要为儿子萧远方（王晔 饰）大办婚礼，因为儿子娶的是城里姑娘冯梦嫣（孙琳 饰），一定让城里人知道如今的农民过的是啥光景。远方的岳母冯焕珍（丁嘉莉 饰）则不同意女儿在乡村举办婚礼，坚持婚礼必须在城里办，两家为此事闹得不可开交，远方则成了风箱里的老鼠两头受气。远方自幼丧母，在乡亲们关爱中长大，萧丙河本想借儿子婚礼答谢众乡邻，却遇到这么不开面的亲家母。冯焕珍早年被丈夫抛弃，一个人含辛茹苦将女儿拉扯大，本想借女儿婚礼让前夫出出丑，不料遇上这么犟的亲家公，该怎么办呢......
