Pork Chop Mountain

In July 1953, at the end of the Korean War, when the war parties were conducting peace armistice negotiations, the U.S. military ordered Lieutenant Clemens to lead a company of U.S. troops to attack Hill 255, which had no military value, in order to increase their leverage at the negotiating table. They knew that the Panmunjom armistice negotiations might reach a peace agreement at any time, so Some soldiers were reluctant to make unnecessary sacrifices. However, Lieutenant Clemens believed that this was their patriotic duty. Under his command, the US military fought with the Chinese and North Korean troops on the Pork Chop Hill position, and even engaged in brutal hand-to-hand combat. When reinforcements arrived, only 25 of the 135-man company were left.
