The Longest Night

The story takes place during the Anti-Japanese War. Tanaka Kiyuki (played by Akira Takarata) is a Japanese army reporter. After being injured, he became separated from the army and lived in the wilderness. The only son of Father Zhao (played by Wu Jiaxiang) went to the front line. Father Zhao, who was so homesick, mistook Tanaka for his own son and forcibly took him home. Aunt Zhao (played by Wang Lai) is blind and thinks that Tanaka is her son. Watching the two old people crying and laughing, Tanaka cannot bear to reveal the truth. Daughter-in-law Atui (played by Lotte) is a sensible person. She recognized at a glance that Tanaka was not her husband. Later, she learned that Tanaka was Japanese, and she silently became murderous. After the assassination attempt on Tanaka failed, Tanaka told A Cui that he was an anti-war student and was forced to interview with the army. A Cui gradually lost her wariness towards Tanaka.
