1970, Christmas Eve. The prostitute Isabel (played by Penélope Cruz) is about to give birth. In desperation, the madam stops the car at her own risk, and she gives birth to a son in the car, named Victor. Twenty years later, Victor fell in love with Elena, the girl with whom he had an affair, but the date was abandoned. An angry Victor came to visit, but Elena, who was addicted to drugs, forced him at gunpoint. When the two were in a standoff, police officers Sancho and David (Javier Bardem) happened to pass by. Earlier, Sancho, who was driving drunk, was telling his colleagues about his wife's affair.
