Operation Chasing the Wind

On the eve of the Wuhan Battle, the Eighth Route Army platoon leader Li Zimu was ordered to return to Shanghai to join Shangguan Jingyun to destroy the Japanese military's chemical weapons development plan named "Wind Shadow". The mission was code-named "Operation Chasing the Wind." The military commander dispatched a special operations team led by Ling Shuang and Tang Shunzhi to disrupt the Japanese plan. Due to poor military command, the special operations team suffered heavy losses. Li Zimu was also unable to deal a heavy blow to the enemy due to insufficient troops. In order to successfully complete the mission, Li Zimu persuaded Ling Shuang and Tang Shunzhi to put aside their differences in political opinions and fight together. Li Zimu and others launched a series of life-and-death struggles with the invaders led by Tanaka Shinichi. Tang Shunzhi, Shangguan Jingyun and others died heroically in the battle. In the end, Li Zimu and Ling Shuang, with the help of the eastern Zhejiang guerrillas and people from all walks of life in Shanghai, killed Tanaka Shinichi and destroyed the Japanese army's "Wind Shadow Project." Through contact with Li Zimu and other communists, Ling Shuang realized that only the national resistance war led by the Communist Party was China's hope for winning this war. Ling Shuang resolutely chose to join the Communist Party and continue to fight against the Japanese invaders with Li Zimu.
