The Legend of Shaolin Temple

During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, there were successive wars. As soon as he realized the Taoism, a master named Ji, named Shenguang, saw through the mortal world and wanted to convert to Buddhism. He came to Shaolin and asked Abbot Bodhidharma to ordain him. Ji Shenguang stood in the snow for three days and three nights. Abbot Bodhidharma refused to take him in and said, "I will take you as my disciple unless it snows red." Ji Shenguang was determined to become a monk, so he cut off his left arm, and red snow fell from the sky. Bodhidharma was moved by his sincerity and accepted him as his disciple, bestowing him with Dharma fame and wisdom. Fifteen years later, Bodhidharma passed away, and Huike became the second-generation abbot of Shaolin Temple. He has five proud disciples: Hui Citron, Hui Shi, Hui Nu, Hui Ren, and Hui Kong. They all practice martial arts and each has his own unique skills. Abbot Huike devoted himself to Qing Dynasty and had a profound understanding of Zen. He became the empress dowager's sutra teacher and often went to the palace to give lectures on sutras to the empress dowager. King Gaoqi of Luoyang was an old acquaintance of the abbot, and he came to play chess with Abbot Huike. Huike mentioned that the recent turmoil in the world has made it difficult for the disciples to meditate quietly. The King of Luoyang said that the imperial court was expanding the harem and recruiting women from all over the country to send them to the palace. The pressure was very urgent and it was difficult to disobey the sacred order. According to the regulations of the previous dynasty, the harem was already too large, but now that there are frequent abolishments and numerous wars, whoever wins the world does not want to enjoy themselves in time
