Zhaoji Tavern

The upright and kind-hearted Fujino Zhaoji (played by Takakura Ken) left the Hantani Shipyard where he had worked for many years due to disagreements with his boss. After that, he and his wife Shigeko (played by Kato Tokiko) made their own efforts and opened a tavern. Friends from the factory, Iwashita (Kunie Tanaka), Akimoto (Masao Komatsu) and others often came here to drink and chat, and the tavern was filled with a cheerful and warm atmosphere. Zhaoji's early lover Xiaoye (Ohara Reiko) is now the hostess of Kamiya Ranch. The once impoverished life forced two lovers to separate. Time has not diluted the emotions left in each other's hearts. Zhao Zhi and Xiao Ye have always been attached to each other. They could only bury this feeling deeply because of their respective families. A fire destroyed Kamiya Ranch, and Saya, who was suffering from marriage, was finally freed and left Sapporo.
