Hibernation

Far away from Istanbul in Anatolia, retired theater actor Aiden (Haluk Bilginer) started a new life as a columnist. He pretended to be concerned about writing religious articles day after day, and was immersed in the seemingly profound thinking world he created and couldn't extricate himself. Aiden uses his pension to run a hotel and has multiple properties for rent under his name. In the process of contacting ordinary people, he seems more hypocritical and cold. Sister Nika (played by Demet Akbag) divorced early and often huddled in Aiden's study to argue about writing, and even ridiculed and criticized each other. His wife Nihal (played by Melisa Sözen) is young, independent and passionate about various public welfare undertakings. Old couples and young couples who spend less time together and stay apart more often, with different attitudes towards life, are gradually drifting apart, and cracks appear in their relationship... The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
