Passage to India

British woman Edna (Judy Davis) ) and her future mother-in-law, Mrs. Moore, traveled to India. This trip was not only to visit Edna's fiancé Lonnie, who was a magistrate in India, but also to expand her horizons at the same time. Edna's mind is not on the social activities among white people, but she is more eager to understand the exotic customs of India, and therefore gets acquainted with the local doctor Ace. Ace is full of pure admiration for the British. Although he is occasionally disappointed, he still admires Mrs. Moore's elegance and often helps white people to save themselves from embarrassment. In order to fulfill Edna's wish, the kind-hearted Ace served as a guide to lead Edna and Mrs. Moore to visit the Malabar Cave in the suburbs. Unexpectedly, the two women felt very uncomfortable in the cave, and Edna even ran out of the cave with scars all over her body... This trip caused an uproar. The British believed that Ace wanted to do something wrong with Edna and imprisoned him. Ace's fate is now in Edna's hands. The film was adapted from E.M. Forster's novel and won more than ten professional awards including the 1985 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
