The shrewd and capable Joanna Mills (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is the sales manager of a transportation company in St. Louis. However, recently she has been troubled by nightmares. In her dreams, she always witnesses a brutal murder, which makes her tortured and exhausted. One day, Joanna came to a strange town to find out the truth, where she met the single Terry Star (Peter O'Brien). From then on, everything took a turn for the better, nightmares and illusions gradually increased, and the clues to the murder in the dream gradually became clear.
