Bad Boys

A film crew chose four "problem teenagers" as the main actors in the French town of Picasso, which aroused doubts among community residents. This is the first feature film from directors Liz Accocca and Romain Gretel, who opened the Cannes Film Festival with their short film "The Royal Hunt." The film adopts a play-within-a-play technique, employing non-professional actors and incorporating their individual experiences into the script, constructing a three-dimensional structure that interweaves reality and fiction to advance the plot. It raises questions about how film as a medium should guide realistic thinking, and calls attention to the source of the problems of troubled teenagers. It won the Un Certain Regard Award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and the Most Popular Film in the Crouching Tiger Unit at the 2022 Pingyao International Film Festival.
