Mystery of the Sisters (original version)

Pascal Rocard's wonderful performance in this film won her the special award for Best Actress at the 11th International Women's Film Festival in Marseille in 1994. The story takes place in Paris. The beautiful Marcilde is thirty years old. She makes a living by helping people restore oil paintings. Her boyfriend Paul was once a professor at a Paris art school, and he often encouraged Marcilde to create some of his own creations. Marcilde's sister Alice lives a boring life in a construction workshop. Since childhood, the sisters have had almost no resemblance to each other. At their mother's funeral, the two met again. One day, Marcilde was driving Paul's son Thomas home, and an accident happened on the way. Marcilde suffered minor injuries, but Thomas died at the scene. Marcilde suddenly lost hope of living. She did not see Paul again and hid in her sister's house. The only thing that can save Marcilde from despair is painting, and her sister Alice gives her great encouragement. But Alice didn't tell anyone. She cared for the half-mad Marcilde like a child. To find out what happened, Paul hired a private detective, but to no avail. rBy chance, Alice's friend Laurent noticed an oil painting in Alice's home.
