Sami (Laura Linney) and Terry (Mark Ruffalo) ) are all helpless orphans, and this commonality gives them a strong friendship with each other. Unfortunately, time has separated the two people. Years later, Sami has become a diligent and virtuous single mother, enjoying a stable and peaceful life with her 8-year-old son Rudy (Rory Culkin), while Terry wanders around, getting into trouble while being wanton and indulgent. By chance, these two orphans who had been dependent on each other in childhood met again. In Sammy's family, Terry found the long-lost warmth and peace. Faced with the doubts of his neighbors, Sammy stood by Terry's side without hesitation. In order to become a man "worthy" of this family, Terry was constantly making changes. But the reality is not as beautiful as imagined. Even though Sami and Terry trust and rely on each other, problems and troubles still follow one after another.
