1778 Stories of My Wife and Me

Sakutaro Makimura (played by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) is a novelist obsessed with science fiction themes. He resigned from the factory in his early years and concentrated on writing science fiction novels. Although the limelight of science fiction novels is gradually being overtaken by romance novels, he is willing to be lonely and always writes for his ideals. Sakutaro's wife Setsuko (played by Yuko Takeuchi) deeply loves her somewhat naive husband. She works hard in the bank during the day, and manages their ordinary little home at night and on holidays, taking care of Sakutaro's daily life. One day, Setsuko suddenly fell ill. After diagnosis, she learned that she had advanced intestinal cancer and had less than a year to live. After learning the news, Sakutaro decided to write a short story for his wife every day to keep Setsuko in a happy mood. The stories are written one by one. Amidst the joys and sorrows, they have gone through more than 4 years of life together... This film is adapted from the true story of the writer Meicun Zhuo and his wife Etsuko.
