Samurai's Recipe

In the long-gone Edo period, there was a special group among the samurai class. They were the kitchen sword samurai (Baotoshi) who prepared meals for the generals or feudal lords. Although they could not go into battle to kill the enemy, the kitchen knife in their hands was indeed no less important than the samurai sword. Funaki Denouchi (played by Toshiyuki Nishida), the leading cook of the Kaga Domain, is very old. His eldest son, who was originally the heir, suddenly died of illness, while his second son Anxin (played by Kora Kengo) specializes in dancing with swords, but his cooking skills are not to be praised. At a grand banquet in the domain, a maid next to the feudal lord's concubine, Mrs. Azada (played by Yui Natsukawa), was an ordinary-looking maid, but she was admired by Denai with her excellent taste and knowledge of cooking. After that, Denai repeatedly begged, and finally the maid named Koharu (played by Aya Ueto) agreed to marry Anxin as his wife. After Xiaochun came to the house, she convinced her husband to learn cooking skills from her through a cooking showdown. Under the guidance of his wife, Anxin gradually became a qualified waiter who could take charge of his own business. But at this moment, a bloody storm struck the Kaga Domain...
