The Age of Passion 1996

The story takes place in Massachusetts in 1692. In a remote town, a group of pious and ignorant people lived. The girl Abigail (Winona Ryder) is the priest's niece, so she enjoys a high reputation in the town. People believe everything she says and approve of everything she does. Relying on her "privilege", Abigail sent dozens of women she could not understand to the gallows as "witches", including John (Daniel Day-Lewis)'s wife Elizabeth (Joan Allen). John had always seen Abigail's wolfish ambitions in his eyes, but because of their romantic relationship, he had to remain silent. It was not until Abigail extended her claws to Elizabeth that John understood the seriousness of the situation. John reported Abigail's crime to the judge, but no one believed his "nonsense."
