Tears of Mother and Daughter in Beacon Fire

The story took place during World War II. In order to escape the war, the strong mother Cecila (played by Sophia Loren) left their hometown of Rome with her 13-year-old daughter Rosetta (played by Eleonora Brown) and temporarily settled in the remote town of Cicero. Here, Cecila meets Mikael (Jean Paul Belmondo), a young man preparing to become a doctor. Mikael is a naturally romantic man who loves literature. He teaches Rosetta how to read and read poetry. Over time, Rosetta falls in love with him, but it is obvious that Mikael's eyes are always locked on Cecila. In order to help Cecila get food to fill his stomach, Mikael came to his father's friend's house. Unexpectedly, he met a German officer there. The German officer strongly condemned Mikael's behavior of not going to the battlefield and planned to take him away by force.
