The film is adapted from a true story, showing the legend of an idealist and a wandering story. Christopher (played by Emile Hirsch) comes from a wealthy family and is a top student at Emory, a prestigious private school in Atlanta, with a bright future. However, after graduating from school, he chose a completely different life. He gave up his enviable job, donated his savings to charity, and went to Alaska to find himself. Amid the dissuasion of his family, he embarked on a long and slow journey back to nature and became a veritable wanderer.
