Oliver Twist 1948

Oliver (played by John Howard Davies) was abandoned at birth. After living in an orphanage for nine years, he was sent to a coffin shop as an apprentice. Unable to bear the miserable life, Oliver ran away from his master and came to Paris, where he met the pickpocket Fachin (Alec Guinness). In this way, Oliver was forced to start his own pickpocket career. By chance, Oliver was arrested by the police. Fortunately, he was taken in by the kind-hearted old gentleman Bulero (Henry Stephenson). Oliver, who had been wandering around all his life, finally felt what it was like to be at home. Unfortunately, the pickpocket gang was unwilling to let Oliver go and kidnapped him. Among them, a girl named Nancy (played by Kay Walsh) felt compassion for Oliver. She decided to disobey the boss's orders and do her best to help the poor child.
