Hans (Hans Hirschmüller), who was once a policeman, lost his job because he was framed by a prostitute. In order to make a living, the ambitious man had to become a fruit vendor. Hans was unable to gain the trust and appreciation of his beloved girl's parents. At the age of starting a family, Hans finally married a woman named Irmgart (Irm Hermann). After getting married, Hans' life officially went downhill. Ilmgart's rudeness and rudeness made Hans's unsatisfactory situation worse. Hans suffered from a heart disease. While he was hospitalized, Ilmgart, who stayed alone in his empty room, couldn't bear the loneliness and had an immoral relationship with his neighbor Antzel (Karl Scheydt). After being discharged from the hospital, Hans could no longer sell fruit on the street and set up a fruit stall instead. By chance, he reunited with his comrade Harry (Klaus Löwitsch). Although Harry brought a lot of happiness to Hans' family, he still could not prevent Hans from despair.
